What's in our File: Turkish Delight

image sources: (from left to right) one / two / three / four / five / six / seven

Here is a sneak peak into our upcoming Turkish Delight wedding, but we want to let you in on a little secret first! This couple is already happily married with a gorgeous two year old of their own. Because they did not have a proper wedding, we have been helping them plan their dream day celebrating the love they have for each other! Their favorites and family are all gathering for this weekend's big celebration.

Now let's rewind a bit! This couple first met while working at Ikea. Arda is the manager there while Joahna did room design prior to her becoming a mama. They have a great sense of style and some ethnic background. Arda is from Turkey which inspired us to weave in Turkish bohemian elements. We'll be shaking things up with tambourines and all sorts of fun metallics to compliment their soft palette and Turkish prints. This wedding is going to make you want to have your own wedding all over again!

Remember our sweeter than sweet duo Mia and Scott? Their big celebration is only a couple days away and we our dotting our i's and crossing our t's. Above is our inspiration for this Lemdinger wedding! Imagine antiquated wedding bells in a ceremony structure of our own creation. A reception with a down home comfort feel, pops of all types of rifle flower inspiration, and more ringing bells to be heard! It's going to be a "Lemdinger"! And if you don't know what that means, you must see this!

Meet our newest addition...

With a degree in Studio Arts this creative California babe enjoys thrift shopping and "researching" HGTV for the best interior styling tips. We might add that Kamryn has a definite sweet tooth. She is looking to discover the best tasting pastry and says it is exhausting trying every flavor macaroon!  Her favorite moment in a wedding is when the father-daughter dance takes place, what a tender tradition. Kamryn could not fit in better with this group!

Get a taste of Kamryn's style with this Auntie Mame inspiration board.

When Heather asked to create an inspiration board, I immediately thought of the 1958 movie, Auntie Mame. I had seen it during a course I took this summer which focused on fashion illustration, but as soon as little Patrick entered his Auntie Mame's house, I couldn't take my eyes off the ever evolving interior decor - including the beautiful chandelier. The opening scene takes place in the 1920s and the decor includes references to chinoiserie, art nouveau, and art deco. I knew those influences would make a beautiful wedding!

Quirky tidbits about Kamryn

Q: Scary movies or happy endings?
A: Happy or sad endings, but never scary!

Q: Hugs or kisses?
A: I'm kind of an awkward hugger - I never know when it's appropriate. Luckily, hugging your husband is never weird, so I do that a lot!

Q: Summer or winter?
A: I think it depends on where you live. Spending the last 2 years in Phoenix made me a winter lover.

Q: Deep down what do you really want to be?
A: I want to learn how to do so many things, but at the end of the day, I really want to be a set designer. I mean everyone can identify that old, rusty-orange colored couch (Friends). How neat would it be to choose those iconic pieces?! I love that interior spaces, whether on a set or in reality, tell the story of the inhabitants - there's a wonderful amount of anthropology and psychology in it.

Q: Favorite smells?
A: The Volcano Candle from Anthropologie, little babies, and a fresh French baguette top my list.

Q: What is your favorite flower?
A: Queen Anne's Lace - so unassuming and lovely.

Q: Backpacking or luxury hotel?
A: Can I choose a Bed and Breakfast?

Q: Cake or pie?
A: Cake - but I would eat the pie too!

Inspired By: Swedish Christmas

One of my favorite holidays comes from my heritage and my Swedish grandmother, her legacy still lives on as we hold tight to the traditions that have been passed down through the generations. Every December 13th on Santa Lucia Day, in the early morning hours, I was always awakened by the sounds of my mother singing a traditional Swedish Christmas song while carrying a tray of hot cocoa and pepparkakor cookies. The beauty of the candles and wreath on her head seemed magical at those moments. It was always one of my favorite parts of December and unfailingly came as a sweet surprise each year. Today, I too carry along the tradition with my little ones and even still the memories of these moments evoke such warm feelings.   I loved waking up my own sleepy little babies this morning as the sun was rising and sharing with them the heritage that my mother also gave me.  All dressed in white and with the wreath of candles on my head, my sweet Milla asked me if I was an angel.  There may only be so many instances in her life where she thinks of her mother as such but for now I will hold on to that...

These are the feelings that bring me the most inspiration. Last weekend I was able to weave together all the elements that are dear to my heart in this special holiday to share with Green Wedding Shoes.  The smells of Swedish desserts, Swedish meatballs, and hot chocolate have brought the memories soaring back. Paintings by Carl Larsson and rosy cheeked girls with braided hair have been dancing in my head. Pretty packages with dala horses hiding within, lit candles, green wreaths of fresh pine, and wood logs waiting to provide warmth are some of my favorite things for this ever so special day. What made recreating all of this extra merry is that I was fortunate enough to recreate the memories with my mother from Twigg Botanicals as we worked side by side.

Head on over to Green Wedding Shoes to view the inspired shoot we created with a great team of talent! Enjoy the inspiration boards below and we'd love to hear about any Christmas traditions that you have with your family.

What's in our file: A Buffalo Filled Fall

Our rustic fall wedding is coming up on the 27th and we wanted to give you a peak. Sarabeth and Tyler's engagements will be appearing on the blog next week, but their inspiration board allows you to visually peer into this duo's love story turned wedding bells. For this couple's creative wedding think neutral tones, pops of teal and rust, buffalo, check patterns, tumbleweeds, road trips and music. Sarabeth and Tyler have a sweet love story and did we mention that their engagements are gorgeous? You will not want to miss them next week!

What's in my file: Rolling Waves

Over at amorology we have caught the ocean blues! Those ocean blues have come with a spoonful of sunshine yellow. The surf will be just right tomorrow for Erica and Nick's surf themed wedding. We found our inspiration in stripes and tides. Envision rolling ocean waves splashed with a retro beach vibe. This is the wedding that Gidget would have died for. Guests will be pleased to find a fun blue specialty drink along with surfboards and a big dose of love. Erica and Nick make each other so happy and we can't wait for everyone to see!

Want a bigger dose? Look at our making waves board on our pinterest.

Get to know our team...Whitney

We are so excited to have Whitney join our team! She just started interning with us last week and already she is proving herself invaluable. This girl has serious style for miles...just look at her dreamy inspiration board! Who wouldn't want to dive right into this French inspired fĂȘte?

Here is a little bit about the board straight from Whit...
"My personal style is very romantic and girly, with whimsical and elegant, timeless touches. I wanted my inspiration board to reflect all aspects of my personal style, and what time period can reflect that better than French Rococo? I love the dusty plum, blue and rose color combination that adds a soft freshness to this dramatic and glamorous French style. And what girly-girl doesn't love pearls, diamonds, bows, lace and feather detailing?"

Where do you find inspiration?

I find my inspiration everywhere! From historical time periods, architecture and art to nature, magazines and blogs! My favorite wedding blogs for inspiration are Style Me Pretty and Snippet & Ink.

What do you love most about weddings/parties?

I love all of the details that get put into weddings that are unique to each bride and groom's personal style. I love seeing the different elements used to create something truly special and memorable to them.

What is your favorite memory from your own wedding?

I loved the dancing at our wedding. We had a great DJ that got everyone on the dance floor and got the party going! The dance with my Dad was also really special to me...

What are your guilty pleasures?

There are too many to count...but cupcakes, gossip magazines and gallons of diet coke would be just a few.

What fall treat are you looking forward to?

I can't wait to pull out all of my boots and tights, eat some pumpkin flavored foods and enjoy some cool, crisp fall days. Fall is definitely my favorite time of year.

Meet our newest addition...

Remember this adorable couple and their sweet engagements we posted a little while back? Well, we are beyond excited that 1/2 of that couple, the gorgeous Carly, is the newest Amorology intern! How lucky are we, that not only do we get to plan the wedding for this beyond creative gal, but also to have her in the office thinking up all sorts of awesome ideas for us!?

Here is the inspiration board that Carly made for us... We fell in love with how charming and beautiful it is. It really is a perfect board showing inspirational elements from every component of a wedding. Especially love the romantic and whimsical colors she chose; a blend of creams, butter yellows, peachy pinks, garden greens, and refreshing aquas. We are so excited to have Carly as a part of the Amorology team-she rocked her first day!

Here is a sneak peek at the inspiration behind the big day... there will be touches of glamour, gorgeous peonies, a color palette of coral pink with pops of cheery yellow and elegant accents in greige. Ooh and tons of macaroons! Should be nothing short of fabulous- especially since shooting the wedding is the fabulous Tec Petaja!

James + Alex Save The Day

Who said you can't have a good time while you're working!? We sure did this past Saturday at James + Alex's super hero inspired wedding. Honestly any wedding at the New Children's Museum would be a blast, but being a part of James + Alex's big day was incomparable! With the inclusion of a breakaway brick wall, a light saber fight, a cereal bar, and freeze dance; how could this not go down as one of the funnest weddings ever?

Here's the inspiration board we created for the couple and a little peek in to the awesomeness that was James + Alex's wedding!

Oh yes, there were lots of cupcakes (hostess inspired ones, cupcakes topped with cookies, cupcakes drowning in sprinkles...you name they had it!) The brides' bouquet had brightly colored ric-rac intertwined around the flowers, floral arrangements were wrapped with poppy yellow and white chevron fabric, colored pencils were used instead of pens for guests to leave well wishes to the couple, and there was an abundance of super hero love throughout the decor. Jagger Photography was there to capture the night's festivities, so we can't wait to share with you this wild wedding!

So inspiring: Jami + Eric

Just had our site walk through with Jami + Eric at the San Diego Botanic Gardens last week and it got us super excited for their Spring wedding!! Plus it was the first time we got to meet Eric, who we instantly loved!! How can you not love a guy who's into bird watching and gardening?

We used the gorgeous venue & Eric's passions for our inspiration, while incorporating an awesome color palette thought up by Jami! This board shows what we are envisioning for their big day; binoculars for bird watching, seeds for spreading love, and lots of lush flowers to set the mood....

Merrily Merrily Merrily...Brittany & Scott's inspiration

We never get tired of a nautical inspired wedding- there are just so many different combinations and elements to play with when working with this concept! Brittany was really excited to offer her ideas and together we created a playful, yet romantic sailing theme. We decided on a color palette of rustic brown, dreamy ocean blue, with pops of orange and coral. Incorporating anchors, lanterns and of course a sail or two! Can't wait to see everything come together on their New Year's Eve nuptials!

Inspiration board: Glass Green & Gold

{Green chandelier via Style Me Pretty, dress from Nadinoo via Etsy, butterfly from Bug Under Glass, succulents via Grey likes weddings, plate via Snippet & Ink, green boxes via Paris Breakfast}

I'm currently decorating my bedroom & have been in a green state of mind while doing so. This inspiration board is the result of letting my mind wander & gathering anything & everything green... I'm especially in love with wild, botanical greens paired with metallics & glass. Liberty flowers & damask greens make for great prints, not to mention cute little dresses! Greens have been popping up in weddings for a while, but I hope to see more brave brides go green all the way.
